It is with great pleasure that we have recently welcomed back one of our loveliest members of staff, Marco Veronesi. 

To celebrate his return, he’s selected a superb Tuscan red, in his words ‘hugely undervalued’. Known as a ‘Baby Super Tuscan’ this wine hits well above its weight and we’re excited to offer it to you exclusively. 

Gauthier Wines has the pleasure of taking you to Tuscany in Italy this week with a very special gem from Castellani ‘Mirapiana’ Maremma 2016, qualified by several connoisseurs as a “ Baby Super Tuscan”. In short - the potential of the great Tuscan vines, yet without the unapproachable price tag.

By blending the great ancient and classic grapes of Bordeaux and of Chianti, you are getting the best of both worlds. How wonderful this is? A wine that you can enjoy now or keep for special occasions in your cellar as it will age beautifully.

Maremma DOC is a fast-rising star on the Italian wine scene. Based on the Super Tuscan blend of Sangiovese, Merlot, and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes, it sparkles with a freshness of fruit and a lively character.

The Castellini Spa is located near Pisa and to this day is a family run enterprise. At its head, Piergiorgio Castellani, and with the help of some serious expertise with oenologist Sabino Russo and agronomist Federico Compassi they are creating some of the most forthcoming and fascinating Tuscan wines.

This wine has a ruby red colour tending to a garnet colour when ageing, it is packed with freshness and a gorgeous fruit of cherries and white chocolate. It is dry, warm, with a great complexity and a touch of balsamic on the finish.

At Gauthier Soho we are suggesting Mirapiana with the fabulous Anjou Pigeon with Roasted Kentish Carrot, Swiss Chard & Blood Orange or the succulent Berkshire Pork Belly with spice quince, Roasted Celeriac & Pork Jus.
