A Chardonnay from the Loire? Why not! We hit upon this superbly fresh bottle when searching for Muscadets to serve with crustacés and summer crudités

The Cherreau-Carre family purchased the Château du Coing St Fiacre in 1973 and Véronique Gűnther-Cherreau, the eldest daughter, took over in 1990.
Passionate about her region and its wines, Véronique produces Mucadets with an authentic taste of terroir, and some of her cuvées can age effortlessly for up to 10 to 15 years.
Located at the confluence of the rivers Maine and Sevre, at the foothills of Massif Armoricain, with a southern exposure, the soils are mainly composed of different types of schists. The vineyard covers 40 ha, including 25 ha planted with vines that are over 80 year old. The yields are kept down to 50 hl/ha and lutte raisonnee is the preferred method of viticulture.

From the supplier: "Wine of light yellow colour which develops its aromas of fruit (flower of locust tree and white flesh fruits). It is an aromatic wine with a beautiful structure in mouth. To be served between 11° to 12°C."

From the winemaker "Chardonnay Cuvée Aurore is an unusual Chardonnay, a cross between Chablis and Muscadet with a strong sea-influenced character. The 13 year-old vines, planted on the outskirt of the Muscadet appellation have produced a wine that is steely and clean, with enticing acacia flower, pear and quince on the nose, the palate is rich and soft with ripe gooseberry, candied white flesh fruit and a racy mineral grip towards the finish."
